This week in the library, the staff are participating in a pumpkin decorating contest and have asked students to help them decide how to decorate the pumpkins. The goal is to make each look like a different literary character, such as Frankenstein or Carrie.
Another major event happening in the library this week is Ban Book Week. This is an annual event nationwide, Oct. 5-11. The goal of this week is to take away the restrictions on books in libraries and schools. For Ladue High School, the librarians are setting up a book display in the library and have asked the English department to work with them to support this cause.
It is also Hispanic Heritage Month and the library has activities to celebrate. Currently, they have a craft station in the middle of the library where students can come in and create something whenever they want. At this station, you can take some art supplies to create Guatemalan Worry Dolls.
Finally, they are installing a new TV for the front of the library so all students can see the displays when they walk past.
