Falling family crests, an unreliable mantelpiece and various collapses are just a few examples of what can go awry during a murder mystery play. All of the mentioned examples, and more, can be seen in The Play That Goes Wrong. This play is not to be underestimated when it comes to production. Each performance will take place Thursday Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday Oct. 25 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 26 at 1:00 p.m. respectively. Tickets can be purchased on the Ladue box office website, prices range from $6 to $11 which includes fees in the purchase.
“There’s been a lot of planning and a lot of logistics, because I wanted to make sure we do [the production] right,” theater teacher Justin Scheuer said. “Part of that is making sure that it’s funny and effective, but also making sure that it’s safe, because there’s a lot of things that go wrong with the set.”
This play was received incredibly well by the cast and crew as this year’s fall production due to its humor, creativity and how it speaks to a part of theater that the audience does not see very often.
“I think it’s kind of a love letter to theater, because you get to see all of the madcap chaos that happens behind the scenes, and you get to see actors who persist even when things are going wrong,” Scheuer said.
