Instead of the usual show cases in the gallery, this latest one was slightly different. It used pieces that ranged from multiple different classes with multiple different mediums being taught. All these pieces are placed in the same exhibit, without the defining show of a theme, but rather to show a network of creativity within all of the art courses in the school.
“Once a year, once every other year, we like to have an overview of all the classes that are represented at our school, the art classes,” Daniel Raedeke, the director of the gallery said, “We like to do a showcase of all of our offerings, so students can look at the show and get inspired. And maybe that will help them inform a decision on what class to take.”
The showcase is organized by selecting student work from Google Classroom, often using pieces from the previous semester. This biennial show does have a purpose beyond just showcasing the work from the plethora of art classes Ladue has to offer.
“In our school, you get to choose any different discipline, photo, drawing, animation, and painting. And I like that because it gives students more choices, but students don’t always know what you create in those classes. So this show is basically an opportunity for students to see what gets made in those classes.”
