Ball in hand, Ira Rodrigues (12) aims her next toss. The objective of the French game “Pétanque” is to land one’s ball closer to the target ball, called the “cochonet,” than the opponent. It is commonly played at parks and public festivals across the globe. “I had fun playing against my classmates, and it was fun applying something we learned in class to real life,” Rodrigues said.
