Q: How would you say the team performed overall?
A: I think our team was very well coordinated that day. Some of the previous days, we were struggling to warm up as some of us were slacking off or not getting in on time. But yesterday, I think we realized it was a tri-meet, and we actually needed to lock in. We performed really well. We got second to the class one [state champion] last year. So it was pretty good.
Q: How would you say you performed individually at the swim meet?
A: Individually, I placed first in the 100 back, and then our relays [placed] second to Parkway Central, who has the top relay times. And then the 50 free, I could have done better on but it’s not my main event.
Q: What advice did Coach Peglar give the team at the start of the meet?
A: Peglar is always there supporting us. He’s a really good coach. He was giving us a speech on how it doesn’t matter and how we’re going to kick [butt]. We got second in the tri meet. He gave us a little chant. It was a nice chant.
Q: How did the team support you during your events?
A: For dual meets, it isn’t really about support because everyone’s events are so close together. It’s like one right after you’re the other. So there was nobody really cheering for me, but some people were supposedly yelling my name in support, so that was nice.
Q: What are you looking forward to for the rest of the season?
A: For the rest of the season, I look forward to going to conference with the rest of my team. A couple of new people are going to conference, and that’s gonna be nice. I think we’re gonna do really well and state is going to be fun, especially now that I have individual events that actually place top 16 so I can medal.

The boys swim and dive team competed against Parkway Central and De Smet Oct. 14. “My favorite stroke is backstroke,” Wu said. “My favorite event is 100 back because it's different [than the other events]. It's the only event on your back and you get to breathe anytime you want.”](https://laduetoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Boys-swim.jpg)
