The girls and boys lacrosse programs combined for a practice together April 3. Boys head coach Tom Bragg and girls head coach Carrie Lampe figured it would be a good opportunity for both programs to learn different aspects of the game from each other.
“My favorite part of practicing with the boys was that I was able to understand their playing style and tempo during practices,” Trudy Richardson (11) said.
Following the practice, the girls went on to win their next game 13-1 against Parkway West High School April 6, and the boys also won their next game, beating Rockwood Summit High School 12-8. Because of these successful outcomes, the coaches are hoping to set up another conjoined practice in the near future.
“We’ve been trying to plan the boys practice for years, but with Coach Bragg coming in, he wanted us to be a really unified program,” Lampe said. “[Bragg] came to our games, scouted our players, knew our strengths and weaknesses and then designed the practice so we could grow very specifically through the drills. We definitely hope to do it again sometime soon.”
