Marine Corps recruits students during lunch Nov. 19

Marines stopped by Ladue High School to recruit students. To promote their cause, the Marines brought a pull up bar and discussed their experiences. “[My interest in the Marines] started sophomore year,” Ladue alumnus Grisham Ravindranath, said. “The same thing happened, a pull up bar club contest. I’m super competitive, so I hit the pull up bar and I got the recruiter’s number and I somehow thought of [joining the Marines].”

"Every day, I show up to be of service," Flinn said. "I do it outside and inside of this role. I don’t get anything from it, but the knowledge that I’m being of service. That’s why I was put here. I will listen, I will honor your voice. On the current board, we’re willing to lean on each other, listen to each other, have tough conversations with each other. I will continue to be part of that.”

The club hopes to continue to implement new meetings every year. “About a month ago, we pitched [the idea], and Madame Milford helped us obtain the croissants and jams,” Secretary Arlo Ziolkowski (11) said.

The project developed into a central passion for Mei and something she would like to continue. "St. Louis is special in the way that there is always an opportunity to take a step further and deepen impact. I hope to expand the scale of EmpowerEd, and continue helping the families out at TAP.

Zhang holds a USCF rating of 2265 and finished with a perfect four points on Board 1. “I enjoy getting to represent and score for my team,” Zhang said. “It really means a lot.”
