From Nov. 1-30, students can come into the library to play some board games with their friends to celebrate International Game Month. There are a variety of board games, including Boggle and Trouble.
Additionally, many classes are visiting the library this week. Freshmen are checking out suspense books for their suspense unit in English 9 and sophomores are gathering research for their composition essays on a controversial social issue.
A major win for Missouri school libraries was the recent overturning of Senate Bill 775. A Jackson County judge ruled Nov. 17 that the bill was unconstitutional. The bill was originally passed in 2022 and banned all books in schools that contained “explicit sexual material”, leading to the removal of hundreds of books in school libraries. With the overturning of Senate Bill 775, many schools, including Ladue, are bringing back the banned books.
Looking forward to December, the library’s annual Winter Reading Challenge will take place from December to February. Currently, the library is highlighting the nominees for the Goodreads Choice Awards. Students can check out these books at the library and get a head start on the Winter Reading Challenge.
