Q: Where are you guys at in your season right now?
Manon: We’re currently getting ready for basketball season, and [Sophie and I] are teaching a junior pom dance to the team, which is really fun because we’ve never done it before.
Q: What has that process been like, learning to teach to the whole group?
Sophie: The process has been difficult, but it’s also really fun, getting to teach a dance that we choreographed for the first time. Having the other juniors to help is really helpful, since we all work well together.Â
Q: How long did it take you to choreograph the dance?
Manon: It took us about four hours.
Q: How much time would you say you spend preparing for nationals?Â
Sophie: We start learning our dances in August, and then we keep cleaning them until February when we leave for nationals.
Q: Where will the dance that you are choreographing right now be performed?
Sophie: It will be performed at basketball games in the season.
Q: What is your daily practice schedule?
Manon: We have practice every day except Fridays and Sundays. On Mondays we go late and it’s three hours and then two hours the rest of the week. During the practices, we split the time so [for example] we’d have an hour for hip hop and an hour for pom.
Q: How has your experience as a Laduette changed from your freshman year to now?
Sophie: I feel like we’ve definitely learned a lot from the past, like seniors and stuff. So it’s nice getting to learn more leadership roles and getting ready for next year.
