Q: What was the main topic or purpose of the club’s last meeting and what specific outcomes or decisions came from it?
A: Last meeting we introduced our annual and first fundraiser of the year: Trick-or-Treat For UNICEF. It’s a one month long fundraising competition between our club as we challenge everyone to raise as much money as possible. We have had donations from over 25 states and 15 countries. Each year the winners receive special prizes and are celebrated among the club. Each dollar raised will go to fund millions of children around the world in aiding them with necessary resources like food, water, clothing, and school supplies. We still have a long way to go to reach our goal for the month, but so far the members have exceeded expectations with their commitment and care!
Q: Can you give us a sneak peek into the club’s next major event? What is it, when is it happening and what is the primary goal?
A: Our next major event will be our famed Snowball Winter Dance. This year’s dance will be in January. Each year we always have a great showing over hundreds of students, similar to prom and homecoming. The club decorates the gym with winter-time decorations, we have cookies and lemonade, and an awesome DJ for the entire night. Of course all proceeds go towards our cause.
Q: Did the club set a specific fundraising goal for the upcoming event during the last meeting? If so, what is it and how will it be achieved?
A: For our current event we set a goal of $10,000! UNICEF Ladue continues to grow and members become more committed to our cause. For these reasons we are not afraid to set high standards and goals! Collaboration throughout the club has led to m
any ideas such as an “amabassaor-athon” at our latest meeting as well as many other activities we are beginning in the coming weeks.
Q: What was one specific action assigned to every member who attended the meeting?
A: Instead of just talking at the members, we want to know what they think. Each meeting the officer team begins with an informational about UNICEF relating to our cause and upcoming fundraisers. After that we ask our members to internalize this and then talk with someone next to them about what this means to them, if they have seen things like this, and what ideas they have for change.
Q: What’s the one thing you hope people who attend your next event walk away knowing or feeling about UNICEF’s mission?
A: I want our members to walk away feeling they made a REAL DIFFERENCE. No matter how grand or how small, they made a difference in directly affecting someone’s life in a positive way. Not a lot of clubs offer opportunities like us to be a part of real change and I think that’s what really makes our community special.

UNICEF has held two meetings so far this year and have started their annual fundraising event called Trick-or-Treat For UNICEF. “Not only is [the event] a great cause, but it’s an easy and fun way to introduce members to the type of activities we do at UNICEF Ladue,” President Jordan Oiknine (12) said.](https://laduetoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/IMG_0649-899x1200.jpg)
