Club president Kyra Siegel (11) decided to kick off the new semester by teaching students how to make phone charms at their meeting Jan. 14. From rings to bracelets to keychains, Beading Club is always finding a new creation to make at every meeting.
“I got a lot of requests to do [phone charms],” Siegel said. “I thought it would be a fun, simple thing to do.”
While the Beading Club meets only once per month, Siegel takes advantage of each meeting by using the time to pass her passion for beading onto other students.
“I love being able to teach people one of my favorite hobbies,” Siegel said. “Beading has been a really big part of my life. It was something my mom taught me how to do.”
For members, the Beading Club serves as a special place for a multitude of reasons, mostly for its ability to connect students together to learn something new.
“A key reason I like Beading Club so much is because you can socialize with your friends while doing something fun together,” Camilla Chen (11) said.
At the end of each meeting, students walk out not only having had a great time to talk with friends, but with a finished creation in hand displaying their creativity and crafting skills.
“When people finish their creations, I love seeing their smiles,” Siegel said. “It always makes me really happy.”
