FemCo promotes their fundraiser during lunch Feb. 11. Members during different lunch periods took turns promoting the event. “First, we had to plan what we wanted to sell and [which] days,” Queena Xu (12) said. “We also had to have days to make posters and decorate the table. Our main focus was what to sell so we could buy it early.”

FemCo held their annual Valentine’s Day Fundraiser Feb. 9 to Feb. 11 during lunch. The club sold chocolates, candy grams to send to someone, wooden roses, cookies and raffle tickets for a large teddy bear to raise money for their fundraiser of choice.
“The best part of fundraising during lunch is that there’s more exposure and people who can see the fundraiser and who may be more tempted to buy something for the cause,” Xu said.
This year, all proceeds will go to the Community Health Impact Coalition. The organization sends reusable menstrual products to Ethiopian women in need, supporting FemCo’s goal of promoting equality for women.
“We chose this organization because it was introduced to us by a Ladue Alum who helps run it,” Co-president Queena Xu (12) said. “We love the message and help that it’s providing for women and want to support that.”
The club raised over $344, exceeding their goal of $150. FemCo’s next meeting will be held Feb. 24, where members will discuss upcoming events for women’s history month.
“The Valentine’s Day Fundraiser has always been our most popular and successful fundraiser,” Xu said. “We think it’s very on-theme for us and a popular thing to encourage people to buy for themselves or others.”
