As the year begins, so does one of Ladue’s largest clubs, HOSA – Future Health Professionals. Meetings occur once or twice each month, with their most recent meeting being on October 2. These help learn and organize what competitive events they will be participating in throughout the year.
“Our second meeting was a couple weeks ago, and that was introducing the kind of competition aspect of HOSA and just introducing all the competitive events,” President Anthony Zhao (12) said. “[Introducing the] International Health Organization, talking to the members to pay their dues, who’s eligible to compete and introducing the competition in general.”
On October 12, delegates attended the Fall Leadership Conference in Columbia, Missouri, which competed for the pin and shirt design that will represent the state at HOSA International Leadership Conference. Both Ladue’s pin and shirt designs were selected.
In upcoming months, the club will turn away from focusing on the competition facet but instead on the Red Cross, or volunteering side.
“We’re going to go towards the volunteering aspect of HOSA because that’s definitely a big part of HOSA as well,” Zhao said. “One of the things that the members that came back from FLC said is that other chapters focus a lot on volunteering. We’re going to kind of get everyone involved in the community and how we can help with the healthcare aspect.”
