DECA went on a field trip to Busch Stadium to participate in the stadium’s Career Day and watch the Saint Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds game, Sept. 17.
DECA members first went to the Career panel, where people with different jobs in marketing, logistics and broadcasting explained to students what to expect working on the business side of the sports industry. Panel speakers shared inspiring messages to students and emphasized characteristics necessary to work in the industry such as resilience and self-motivation.
At the conclusion of the panel, students headed to the fourth level of the stadium for a free lunch and a college fair that included several schools from Missouri and the Midwest, such as Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri University of Science and Technology and Truman State University.
Ladue DECA, as well as several other high schools from throughout Missouri and Illinois, watched the Cardinals game before returning back to the high school at 1:30 p.m.
“I thought the speaker panel was very educational and I liked seeing how people in the marketing fields lived their lives and learning about their jobs,” Kyla Spiegelglass (11) said. “The college fair didn’t have a lot of variety but I was able to talk to a few colleges I was interested in.”
