Four Ladue field hockey seniors participated in the St. Louis Senior All-Star game Nov. 3 at Principia Field. The game consists of selected top seniors from different teams across the area, and is a final culminating event for seniors to come together and play their last game.
“The game is really different because it’s a couple [of] seniors chosen from teams all across the city,” Molly Salvatori (12) said. “It’s really cool because each team is made up of girls from different schools. It was the last time I’ll get to play with some of those girls.”
Salvatori has been on the team for four years and was selected by her teammates to be a captain. She leads the team as a starting defensive midfielder.
“It felt really special to be chosen to play in the game,” Salvatori said. “It was a really big honor and a really fun way for me to finish my field hockey season. Getting to play out a corner and score with my Ladue teammates one last time was really special.”
Salvatori and her fellow seniors competed with and against previous opponents. The All-Star Game aims to unite seniors over their love of the game.
“Ending my season with girls from different teams gave me a lot of closure,” Salvatori said. “The way our season ended was really unfortunate, so working with girls who also felt the same way about their season felt refreshing. We all just wanted to play one last time, so it ended up being really fun.”
