Q: How is the season going for you and the team?
A: We came into this season after winning districts and making it to quarters for state [last year]. So I think we came into it expecting the same results, but that hasn’t been our outcome this season. We’ve learned a lot, and we’re playing really hard. We’ve been playing some really challenging teams, so I think that we’re learning and growing as players, even if we don’t have a winning record currently.
Q: What has been your favorite moment from the season so far?
A: My favorite moment from this season was our teacher appreciation night. It was the first time we’ve ever done something like this, and I think it was really a good way to show our appreciation to people who help us off the court.
Q: What position do you play, and what do you like most about it?
A: I play outside, and the thing I like most about it is it’s so versatile, because I have to pass, play defense and also hit, so I get to play a lot of the positions [so] it’s not just one specific job that I have. It’s a lot of pressure, but it’s also really fun and exciting to play with my team.
Q: How does it feel already being committed to play D1 as a junior?
A: I’m really excited that I’m already committed. I didn’t really want to rush the process. I wasn’t expecting to commit so early, but I found the right school, and they found me, so I pulled the plug on that and committed a month after June 15. I’m really excited to go on my official visit in November, and have been up there once already. I’m just super excited to get my college volleyball career started.
Q: Do you have any goals you’re working on before college?
A: One of my goals that I’m working on before college is to be a really well rounded player, not only being able to score points by hitting but also having a good block up at the net and being able to pass and play defense. I think it’s really important to be a versatile player and have those skills in your toolbox.
