MedVenture met Oct. 14 in room 2154 after school to teach students about fingerprints and introduce them to upcoming medical volunteering opportunities. Club members were involved and interested throughout, since the meeting was very in-depth and informative. Club member Renae Yang (11) feels that the club leaders did an effective job of guiding the club and its members.
“The [club] presentation covered a lot of questions people may have, and they took additional ones after explaining the activities,” Yang said. “[The leaders] were engaged with the audience and had good responses to questions.”
The club tries to cover a variety of medical-based activities in its meetings. This particular session put a creative spin to understanding dermatoglyphics — the study of fingerprints.
“[There was] an activity where people stamped their fingerprints on sheets of paper so they could identify their finger patterns,” Yang said.
MedVenture will continue creating meeting ideas as innovative as this, with each activity revolving around science and medicine. Yang is excited for future meetings where she can partake in fun opportunities like those in this past meeting.
“I look forward to future activities the club may offer,” Yang said.
