Muslim Student Association’s next meeting is scheduled to take place Nov. 13. MSA strives to engage Ladue’s Muslim community and foster a sense of belonging.
Recently, MSA has been working on making the club more engaging for its members. Vice President Asiya Mahmoud (11) does this through creating volunteering opportunities, a key example being when MSA volunteered at the Northwest Islamic Center of St. Louis, Nov. 2.
“We helped clean and [helped] watch some of the kids who are doing some Sunday schooling,” Mahmoud said. “It was just such a great experience. It very much felt like we had a great community here at Ladue, and we were really engaging with the Muslim community outside of Ladue.”
MSA also has plans to prepare members for the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament, is an annual three-day tournament that takes place in multiple regions across the United States and Canada. MIST tests competitors’ knowledge of Islam through multiple events.
“We’re trying to engage more Ladue Muslim people to participate in this competition. It’s just such a good way to find a community and people, [and to] find youth that are living the same life as you are.”
![Muslim Student Association plays a Kahoot to test their knowledge of Islam. They have been practicing for the Muslim Interscholastic Tournament that takes place later in the year. “[Competitiors] either have a competition where we memorize [the Quran] and the judge tests us on memorization, or we recite the Quran using and looking at it.”](https://laduetoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/IMG_5288-1-1200x800.jpg)
