Ome Café opened in late January in the Delmar Loop, replacing Kung Fu Tea. I recently visited with my friends, only then finding out that the cafe is a drink shop. Despite there being no food on the menu, the variety of drinks made up for it fully. To the right of the entrance, there were two kiosks lined against the wall to order. A quick scroll revealed the extensive and impressive menu including a wide selection of coffees, smoothies, hot drinks, iced teas and milk teas. The menu alone cemented my opinion that this cafe truly has something for everyone.
Once we ordered, we went to sit down. The cafe itself is relatively small, with an open area for customers to sit and a counter in the right corner where the workers make the drinks. There is seating lining the walls with a window view out into the Loop. Further back is a cushioned seating area next to a coffee table. Additionally, people can sit at the counter, where they can watch the drinks be made. While everything is in one room, the seating arrangement makes the environment feel spacious.
After waiting for a few minutes, our drinks were placed on the counter for us to grab. I ordered the Tiger Sugar Milk Tea while my friends ordered the Iced Ceremonial Grade Matcha Latte. Comparing the milk tea to the usuals I’ve had around St. Louis, this one had a more milky taste to it. The tapioca pearls were warm, freshly cooked with a pleasant chewiness to them. The taste was familiar yet slightly different in a way that stood out. It was a nice change of pace and definitely something I’d buy again. As for my friends, they were pleasantly surprised with their orders and found the matcha to be some of the best in the area.
The overall experience at Ome Café was enjoyable. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, the drinks were high quality and the overall process from ordering to drinking was simple and easy. As a new cafe, its ability to smoothly navigate orders from its all-inclusive menu is impressive. I’d recommend Ome Café to anyone looking for a tasty drink to quench their thirst.
