Choir is currently preparing for their spring concert May 7 and are learning new types of music. The concert will be held in the Performing Arts Center 7-9 p.m.
“We are currently learning new songs for our spring concert, learning the skills of sight reading and blending into the ensemble,” choir member Violet Coughlin (11) said.
Along with the spring concert, the extracurricular ensemble is starting to get back into action.
“We’re getting our after school Rams Chamber Singers back up and running again,” choir member Anthony Zhao (12) said. “Basically, we’re just getting back into the groove of choir after winter break and learning tons of new songs.”
While preparing for many performances, including the concert, choir members are able to gain new skills and insights on singing.
“I have improved my range,” Coughlin said. “As a Soprano, I have to sing notes that are extremely high and I have learned how to do this in a healthy way and with correct tone.”
The concert features several songs which spotlight the singers’ voices and harmonize them together.
“I’m looking forward to singing Sh-Boom (Life Could Be a Dream),” Zhao said. “I’ve heard the song so far and it’s a cappella, meaning that there’s no accompaniment; it’s just our voices. We’re just starting to learn it, and it sounds amazing so far.”
